

This is the most comprehensive one-week course offered in environmental radiological risk assessment.
Course material will stress the practical application of methods used in environmental radiological risk
assessment. Attendees will receive a copy of the text book Radiological Risk Assessment and
Environmental Analysis, published by Oxford University Press and edited by course presenters
John E. Till and Helen A. Grogan. This book will be used as a primary reference text in addition to other
materials provided at the course. Emphasis will be given to problem-solving, use of computer modeling
for risk assessment, and application of the latest methods for risk assessment.
A thorough immersion in the methods used for radiological risk assessment with guidance from the lecturers. Lecturers have extensive experience in the application of risk assessment for compliance, accident analysis, and decision making, as well as effective methods for communicating risk.
Managers and scientists who work in the nuclear industry or in site clean-up and remediation, those who regulate such activities, and those concerned with risk evaluation of radionuclides in the environment, including compliance, remediation, litigation, and emergency response. This course will benefit those who want to be updated on current methods or to broaden their skills, as well as those just starting a career in radiological risk assessment, such as recent college graduates.
